“If there is a God why is there evil in the world?”
A world without evil, pain, and suffering is a world without choice, without consequence, and without challenge. Such a world would have no need of God. Evil doesn’t disprove God’s existence; it makes him necessary.
How much do you actually care about God when you have enough money, your health is good, and you don’t have any heartbreak? It is when you have pain and suffering that you recognize your need for him and seek him.
God did not design suffering and death, that is a result of sin. But God uses them to get our attention, speak to us, and transform us into his own image. He can do this because he sent his Son to suffer and die for us, so that we can live through him.
“We know that all things work together for good to those who love God, to those who are the called according to His purpose. For those he foreknew, he also predestined to be conformed to the image of his Son.” – Romans 8:28-29
